Le château d'ISTRIA fut construit par un génois Luciano de FRANCHI, dont le fils avait épousé une Sibilia qui fut l'héritière du dit château que Simoncello de la ROCCA (Giudice) lui enleva finalement.

La Seigneurie d'ISTRIA s'étendait entre le Taravo et la chaîne de montagnes qui va de la mer au massif de Bavella en passant par les cols de Cilaccia et de Saint-Eustache.
